GBB: Generic Blackboard Builder

GBB, Generic Blackboard Builder, is a software-development environment based on the blackboard problem-solving approach, which offers a powerful means of flexibly combining individually developed software systems and modules into a single integrated application. In a GBB application, the individual software systems and modules interact in much the same way as human experts do when they use a �brainstorming� style of interaction. GBB features an object-oriented blackboard database with highly efficient object-retrieval facilities, an open and extensible environment in which knowledge sources can be written in any programming language, intelligent control and integration facilities, and a machine-independent graphics toolkit.
